A true artist is inherently driven to create.

It is with great enthusiasm that I announce the addition of two esteemed artists to the EGAA roster: New York visual artist, Kenneth Carbone, and DC photographer, Anice Hoachlander. After distinguished careers in the commercial realm, they are now able to devote more time to their core artistic endeavors which have always been central to their work. I have had the privilege of cultivating long-standing relationships with both Kenneth and Anice and have been closely following their recent artistic journeys, which have steadily evolved over the years.

Kenneth Carbone’s artistic foundation is rooted in drawing, utilizing a diverse range of media including graphite, charcoal, pastel, ink, watercolor, acrylic, and oil. His explorations of the human form and nature begin with deep observation, resulting in images that verge on abstraction. Kenneth earned his BFA from the Philadelphia College of Art. For over 40 years, he served as the creative director at the Carbone Smolan Agency in New York and was honored with the American Institute of Graphic Arts’ Lifetime Achievement Award. He has taught at the School of Visual Arts in New York and lectured at Yale University, Carnegie Mellon, the Rhode Island School of Design, and RIT. Additionally, he writes for -and has been published in- various publications and has been a TEDx speaker.

For over 30 years, Anice Hoachlander has been an award-winning architectural photographer in the DC Metro area. With a keen eye for structure and repeating patterns, she is drawn to the interplay of rhythm, light, and shadow. Her work also explores elements of the organic world—trees, fungi, vegetables, flowers, leaves, and building materials—revealing intricate patterns that echo architectural forms. Anice employs “macro capture photography” and advanced image stacking techniques to achieve exceptional sharpness and detail. The true essence of each image only fully emerges upon completion, offering a unique and unexpected perspective.

UPCOMING EXHIBITS: May 1 + June 5

Look for your invitation to solo exhibits for both artists. “The Shape of Things” for Ken Carbone in May and “Echoes of Light” for Anice Hoachlander in June. Both exhibits will be held at DC’s beautiful ADA Gallery.

Please contact me with any questions about these artists or to be added to the invitation list.
